2011E is part of the flexible DPA d:dicate Recording Microphones series. The 2011E with the MMP-E active cable offers an ultra-compact appearance with excellent directivity control and Radio Frequency Interference rejection.2011E is ideal for over-stage hanging or table applications and the construction combines the Twin Diaphragm Capsule and DPA's strong know-how within interference tube technology. While the DPA 4011 cardioid has gained worldwide admiration for its total linearity at all sound confrontations, the 2011 is purposely designed differently; the off-axis response is still linear but in a smaller frequency bandwidth making stage separation and gain-to-feedback higher and mic level easier to control. At any time and with no tools necessary it is possible to transform the basic 2011 microphone into a new configuration by combining it with another DPA microphone capsule or preamp.

Twin Diaphragm Capsule: cutting edge technology

The overall distinctive sound image from the DPA miniatures is so well balanced that it meets the high demands of the d:dicate Recording Microphone range. In a 2011 capsule two opposite facing miniature capsules are custom re-built into a double diaphragm, one-capsule composition. The use and control of interference tubes has become a DPA specialty and the 2011 is no exception; the capsules are loaded to the supreme d:dicate preamps instead of the tiny miniature FET preamp from the 4060 miniature series, offering even more air and precision.

The 2011E has found its use on numerous stages and studios requiring visual elegance. Exhibiting a previously unheard blend of clarity, richness and dynamic range, the 2011 performs like a much more exclusive microphone and redefines the term value for money.

Note regarding acoustic center of MMC2011 capsule

The MMC2011 cardioid capsule benefits from the unique DPA Microphones Twin-Diaphragm capsule and Interference Tube technologies. This combines the advantages of small capsules (fast impulse response and large frequency bandwidth) with lower inherent noise achieved from a larger diaphragm area. The use and control of interference tubes has become a DPA area of perfection and for the MMC2011, the Interference Tube assists in controlling both directivity and low frequency response.

The MMC2011 is included in the 2011A and 2011C. Furthermore and even more relevant, it is included in the selected stereo pairs ST2011A and ST2011C. Since the interference tube is positioned in front of the capsule to operate correctly, the acoustic center of the microphone is 36mm (1.4in) under the tip of the grid, in the middle of the capsule. This should be kept in mind when placing the microphones for stereo recordings like XY, ORTF, NOS and DIN.
